Vintage Valentine's Day Decor with Oversized Candy
The large hutch cabinet in my foyer is perfect for decorating for the holidays, and makes a real statement piece when you enter the house. This year I decided to celebrate Valentine's day by filling it with vintage Valentines and lots of oversized candy decor. It transformed that part of our home into an explosion of sweet vintage decor that reminds me of an old-fashioned candy story window.
Giant heart candy box
The focal point of my vintage Valentine's Day decor is of course the giant heart-shaped box of candy that I created a couple weeks ago. Measuring nearly 3' across, this fully-functioning box and lid is filled with faux chocolates that look good enough to eat! Check out the full tutorial if you want to see how I did it or make your own.
Oversized conversation hearts
I knew I needed to include classic classic conversation hearts into the decor, and I created them from some simple chocolate candy heart boxes.

Giant Hershey's Kisses
Continuing with the oversized candy theme, I created some giant Hershey's Kisses to fit into the decor. With their shiny foil finish and giant "KISSES" flag, the only thing that would make these giant Kisses better is if they were made of real chocolate!
Oversized vintage Valentine's Day cards
No vintage Valentine's Day decor would be complete without some vintage Valentine cards. I found a bunch of fun vintage valentines images online and printed them full-size on a sheet of paper, then taped them to basic easels that I made from scraps of cardboard, so they would stand up.
Vintage Hershey's chocolate tins
Finally, I wanted some candy containers featuring vintage labels, so I found the perfect old-fashioned Hershey label, tweaked it into multiple pastel colors, and wrapped them around coffee cans. I spray painted the can lids white and they were good to go!
Pulling it all together
Once I had all these wonderful oversized Valentine's Day decor items, decorating the hutch was easy. I filled each of the shelves with little vignettes of decor, centering them in the windows.
Along the back of each shelf, I put glittery silver garland and fairy lights, which really gave depth to the decor, and backlit everything perfectly.
I filled in with plenty of teddy bears and red roses, and a garland made of red doilies and little pink hearts.
The large Valentines might be my favorite part, because they lend a perfectly nostalgic touch to my vintage Valentine's Day decorations.
The oversized conversation hearts were another favorite of mine, because they were so easy to make and work so perfectly as easy Valentine's Day decor for anywhere in the house, and even make a great kid's Valentine craft!
