"Under the Sea" Party Favors
Little Jo is infatuated with the ocean right now, and she loves reading about dolphins and seahorses. So it wasn't a big surprise to me when she said she wanted an underwater-themed birthday party. She was very clear, too. "Ocean, Mommy. Not Finding Nemo or Little Mermaid, just ocean animals." Alright then, I had my mandate.
For more details about the party overall, check out our main Under the Sea party post, as well as a full tutorial on the elaborate oyster cake that Chica made. For now, though, I want to talk about the party favors we had.
First, my aunt made monogrammed pillowcases for the kids out of really cute ocean-themed flannel. It's such an easy project, with a basic shape, but it has a big impact as a gift. I love the similar pillowcases she has made my girls in the past, and the kids love how soft and fun they are.
The other party favor was a butterfly net that I re-purposed as a toy fish net. I filled the nets with ocean-themed toys and stickers.
Then I used my Cricut and Animal Kingdrom cartridge to cut out fish shapes in coordinating colors, which served as name tags. I don't usually personalize party favors, but in this case, there were two age groups attending and I had special toys just for the little ones, so I wanted to keep them straight.
They looked so perfect on display in a bucket at the party.

How nice that the party favors are things that will be useful in the long term. The kids will be all set for catching bugs and little water creatures this spring and summer.
Good luck with the rest of the party planning. Can't wait to see the cake for this one!
Thanks, Baye. Chica has a fantastic cake idea and she hopes it will work out!
Your Aunt only finished them because I made her! LOL CUTE
This sounds awsome!! Where did you purchase those nets?
Ema, check out these butterfly nets on Amazon.
