As the school year is coming close to an end, both Jo's kids and my niece are looking for the perfect Thank You gift for their teachers. We wanted it to be something unique, appreciated, and most importantly, useful. Any teacher will tell you they've had enough apple-related gifts to last a lifetime!

Jo had the great idea to give them USB chargers for their phones and devices. These things are so handy to have in your purse or car, and everyone can use an extra. She found a super-cute myCharge StylePower USB charger at Target and grabbed a few right away.

The next step was to design a way to present this charger as a card and gift, all in one. I designed a cute card that really plays on the theme -- teachers use up all their energy on students all year, so now it's time to recharge all summer! The charger tucks inside and makes a truly unique end-of-school-year teacher gift.

NOTE: This card was designed specifically with this charger in mind, but it will work with any lipstick-style USB charger that measures between 3-1/2" and 4-1/2" long, and between 3/4" and 1" wide/tall.

To make your own cards, just download our free printable card and print it onto white cardstock. One page has two cards on it.

Cut the card out along the thin grey border, making sure to leave the white strip across the bottom.

Use a ruler or straightedge and a bone folder or stylus to score a line between the brown stripe and the white stripe...

...and then score again between the brown and pink stripes.

Fold both scored lines in one direction...

...then in the other, to create a good crease.

At this point, if you want to sign the card or write a message, go ahead. You can write on the pink or brown areas, but make sure you do NOT write across the blue bars!

Fold the card in half along the crease between the pink and brown. Use scissors to cut both sides of both blue bars, making sure not to cut past the end of the blue.

Unfold the card then fold it in the opposite direction, and carefully pull up the blue bars, revealing a gap behind them. Gently pull both blue bars outward.

Fold the card to a 90 degree angle with the blue bars out. They should form squares.

Fold the white part at the very bottom back underneath, and make a good crease.

Flip it over and use a piece of tape to secure it in place. This extra white flap will provide stability to the card and covers up the holes in the bottom left by the blue bars.

Slip the USB charger under the blue bars and you're ready to go!

Isn't that clever? We're sure the kids will love giving these unique end-of-school-year gifts to their teachers as much as the teachers will love getting them.

But these cards are good for more than just teachers! Think about it — these would be a great Thank You for anyone who has spent a lot of time and energy helping you out.
