Sequin Snowman Ornament
Here in Kentucky, we don't get a lot of snow each winter, which means we don't see many snowmen gathering on the neighborhood lawns. I love snowmen, though, so I like to incorporate them into my Christmas decorations when possible. And this year I came up with a really fun sequined snowman ornament that now only looks great on my tree, but makes a great kid's Christmas craft, too!
All you need for this project is a 3" Styrofoam ball, some loose craft sequins in white, orange, and black, some tiny straight pins, and a little bit of craft wire.
To get started, stick one of the pins through the hole in a white sequin...
...and push the pin right into the Styrofoam ball, as far as it will go.
Did you enjoy that? I hope so, because you're going to do it some more. A LOT more!
Keep going until your ball is completely covered. About halfway through, your fingertips might be getting a little sore, so reach for a thimble if you need some help pushing the pins in.
Next you'll make the iconic carrot nose for your snowman. Start by threading one orange sequin onto a piece of thin wire that's about 6" long.
Bend the wire in half and give it a twist to lock that sequin in place at the end.
Squeeze the two pieces of wire together and string a bunch more sequins on, until you have a nice nose. You'll see how that first one gives the nose a nice point and keeps the rest of them from falling off.
Push the wire into the ball to attach the nose to the snowman head. So cute!
Then take some black sequins to add the coal-like eyes.
Next, add more black sequins to form the mouth. You might think the pins for the black sequins must go in the gaps between the white ones, but unless you are using super, heavy-duty, crazy sequins, you should be able to push the pin for the black sequins right through the white sequin and put your coal exactly where you want it.
To create a hanger for the ornament, just straighten out one end of a regular wire ornament hanger and shove it in the top of the snowman's head (ow!) and you're good to go.

So clever :)
I didn’t have any orange so I went into my Christmas light stash and found the little prong lights found an orange one. Straightened the prongs and dabbed a bit of glue on it an poked them into the ball. Perfect.... thanks for sharing
Connie, that is a brilliant idea! Wish we had thought of it. :)
