Rustic Fall Porch Decorating Ideas
We are excited to share Chica's rustic fall porch with you today as part of the Fall Porch Tour we have going on with some of our blogger friends. If you stopped by after having a drink on Amy Lanham's "spooky" monster party porch, welcome!
Fall in Kentucky is one of our favorite seasons — the trees are changing, the days are still warm but you aren't melting from the humidity, and the evenings are nice and crisp, perfect for roasting s'mores and sipping cider. Here are a few tips for creating a rustic fall porch with a lot of items you might already have around your home.
Choose a non-traditional color palette
Chica isn't a huge fan of the traditional fall color palette so instead we chose colors that would complement the dark grey color of her house. We chose shades of cream, blush pink, mint, and muted blue to highlight the accessories and furniture pieces. An easy way to get colors that you might not find on a typical faux pumpkin is to just take out your favorite spray paint color.
Use accessories you already have
Chica already had a large collection of vintage jugs, jars, and metal pieces that she had collected over the years, and she didn't even realize it until she started walking around her home and storage area and pulling everything together. We find it best to shop your own home before you head to the store or flea market to supplement your design.
Make a focal point wreath
Chica already had a bourbon barrel ring and she knew she wanted to use it to make a wreath to coordinate with the barrel ring serving tray she recently made for this space. A simple scrap of barn wood anchored the bottom, and we decorated it with letters cut from vinyl on our Silhouette machine. We trimmed branches from her yard to add some green, and added some spray-painted mini pumpkins to tie everything back to our overall color palette.
