Rainbow Home Decor Items from Flea Market Finds
On a recent rummage sale expedition, I found a couple of items used for entertaining that just needed a little modern touch. Separately, they had different looks, but once I took my paint brush to them, they transformed into a matching set with a subtle rainbow color theme that's suitable for any home decor.
Rainbow Appetizer Forks
First up was a set of mid-century appetizer forks with wooden handles, housed in a convenient stand.
I chose a set of rainbow colors but in lighter tints rather than the traditional bold shades. Americana Multi-Surface was perfect for the job. I painted the forks in the different colors, and the stand's base with white.
The forks look so fresh and ready to party now with their fun colors. The different colors also make it easy to know which forks are yours.
Rainbow Drink Coasters
Continuing with my rainbow color palette, I knew these 70s coasters and wooden carrying case would look a lot better with some color.
Since the wood was so dark, I first base coated everything in white.
The white basecoat also helps the colors really pop.
The coasters' case was missing the handle so I had to make one. I got crafty and strung some white wooden beads onto a length of wire.
Then I used a dab of Gorilla Super Glue to adhere each end of the wire into the holes in the metal pieces that held the old handle in place.
I think my new handle is even cuter than the original!
Now I can protect my tables in fun style.
