Super Mario Party Featuring Princess Peach from Nintendo

My daughter Little Jo had a great time at her Princess Peach Super Mario party for her birthday this year. She loves playing Super Mario video games and watching the Super Mario series.
We did so many fun Mario themed projects inspired by the Super Mario World that this party is one I am certain she won't soon forget!
We even created a Super Mario party backdrop that turned one whole wall into a scene from the original Nintendo game.
DIY Super Mario party backdrop wall decoration
The giant wall display behind the cake table started with some 30' blue plastic backdrops that we used to cover the wall. I added yellow poster board at the bottom to mimic the ground in the Super Mario Brothers games. To bridge the gap between the two, I used a strip of green bulletin board border.
We decorated our sky wall with plenty of fun elements from the Super Mario game. We used brown 12"x12" scrapbook paper to make the brick boxes, drawing the lines on with a marker.
Some yellow 12"x12" paper, with a giant white question mark cut out on the Cricut, made the perfect question mark boxes. The clouds were loose shapes cut from white poster board, and the coins were circles cut from yellow poster board.
And on top of the bricks, we added plenty of characters, including a 5-UP mushroom (it was her 5th birthday) and some Koopa Troopas.
We used green poster board to make the giant pipes, adding shade lines on the sides with marker.
To make the characters, we used our free Goomba and Koopa printable patterns to create several of each and scattered them around the scene.
Princess Peach cake table
I covered the cake table with a simple pink plastic tablecloth and table skirt. Then I picked up some inexpensive, shiny, pink fabric and created large swags that were gathered at the corners and in the middle, to mimic the draping on Peach's dress.
The super Princess Peach cake Chica made was a gorgeous addition to the table, and was decorated with plenty of edible teal jewels that we made with our our hard candy jewel recipe on her beautiful golden crown.
Pink satin party favor bags
Chica made the party favor bags out of pink satin, using her drawstring bag tutorial. I filled them with Princess Peach party favors and I just love out they look on the table.
Yoshi egg shaped cookies
For another fun party snack, I used an egg-shaped cookie cutter to make Yoshi egg cookies. So cute!
Princess Peach costume for the guest of honor
Of course, Little Jo had to dress like Princess Peach for the party. A good friend of ours who loves to make jewelry made Little Jo a Princess Peach necklace to complete the look. Isn't it perfect? The birthday girl couldn't have been happier!

Little Jo just loved all of the party decorations, but her favorite was the Princess Peach cardboard stand-up that we set up in the party space.
Super Mario Themed Party Games
Here are some ideas for easy party games for the kids:
- Rescue Princess Peach: Hide a Princess Peach plush doll in a cabinet marked with a Goomba. Tell the kids that Goomba has kidnapped the princess, and they needed to rescue her. They'll have a great time searching around the house until they find her, along with a bunch of prizes!
- Yoshi Egg Hunt: Decorate plastic eggs with round, white stickers to make them look like Yoshi eggs. Hide the eggs throughout the party space and let the kids have a Yoshi egg hunt. Every egg they find can contain a small prize.
- Mushroom Hunt: Hide mushroom-shaped objects around the party area and have the guests race against the clock to find as many as they can.
- Goomba Stomp: Set up a course with cardboard cutouts of Goombas. Guests have to jump over them to avoid getting "stomped."
- Koopa Troopa Shell Race: Create a track with hoops or cones and have guests race while pushing a Koopa Troopa shell.
- Bowser's Castle Obstacle Course: Build a challenging obstacle course with elements inspired by Bowser's Castle, such as lava pits, moving platforms, and a final "boss battle."
- Mario Kart Party: Set up a racetrack with homemade obstacles and have guests race using toy cars or go-karts.
- Mario Party Mini-Games: Recreate classic mini-games from the Mario Party series, such as "Hot and Cold," "Shy Guy Says," and "Dueling Chops."
- Super Mario Bros. Trivia: Test guests' knowledge of the Mario franchise with a trivia game.

This may sound bad, but I honestly had NO CLUE those little pink bags were hand-made. They are extremely well done! I shouldn't be surprised, and I'm not, really, but it never occurred to me that you (or Chica) had made them. :)

Hey Thanks for the templetes for the goomba and the turtle!! I hade to say I have been making a ton of them!! ( for my son's birthday in Oct) I have wanted to make some red and green mushrooms and couldn't get to look right I tried your templete for the body of the goomba in red and then the body in a light tan and added white circles and it turned out sooo awesome!! If you want I can send you a pic? but again thanks for you help!!

OMG I am so glad I am came accross this website. You guys did an amazing job. I am putting together this same background for my son's b-day party in 2 weeks. What exactly did you guys use to tape or glue the items to the sky backdrop? Also, do you have any idea where I can get a backdrop locally?

Karen, so glad you found us! I used 3M Command Poster Adhesive Strips to attach everything to the wall. I would look at a local party store to try and find the background. You could also check Michael's craft store. Have a great party!

Love the necklace, I'm working on Halloween costumes now and my daughter is going to be Peach but I'm stump on the necklace. Do you know what your friend used for the center part?
I'm the friend who made the necklace, and I used a large 2" flat marble and a cut piece of aluminum foil to place behind it. Both items are oven safe at low temperatures so the clay set nicely once it was in place.
