Harry Potter Potion Making Booklet with Real Recipes
My daughter is really into Harry Potter, and loves to pretend she is a wizard in training, which of course means concocting lots of potions.
Real recipes make potion play even more fun, and she absolutely loves potions she can mix up from ordinary household ingredients.
The perfect solution for my Hermione wannabe was this little pocket-size booklet, complete with a cover modeled after Libatius Borage's Advanced Potion Making book.
The 13-page booklet starts with a claim that it's the property of the Half Blood Prince, and also includes some blank pages ready for note taking.
But the best part is the real recipes inside! This booklet contains 3 recipes which can all be made from household items:
- "Laughing Potion"
- "Pepperup Paste"
- "Draught of Confusion"
Don't worry about those magical sounding ingredient names. There's a page with a conversion chart that translates everything fanciful (like "Dragon's Blood") into an ordinary household item equivalent (like "red food coloring").
A potion book is the perfect addition to the DIY potion making kit that I made her, and was a great starting point for the potion game we played during her Tri-Wizard tournament birthday party.
My favorite thing about this book is that it's paperback and pocket-size, which makes it easy for her to carry around with her wizard play gear.
