New Year's Eve Tiered Tray with Champagne
It's been a year, huh? This is the first time since I was 12 that I won't be going out, hosting a party, or traveling over the New Year's holiday. Everything about 2020 has been surreal and downright tough, so I am glad to see it go! On that note, McGeeky and I will be ringing in the New Year at home in sweatpants but I still wanted to make it a little special so I came up with a festive tiered tray with champagne and New Year's Eve decor.
My inspiration started with this cute little tiered tray that I snatched up from the Target Dollar Spot. When I shared it with you on Instagram, you guys suggested that I bling it up a bit, so I thought NYE would be the perfect reason to do so.
The trays come right out, making it easy for me to spray paint the black frame a pretty rose gold metallic.
I wanted a neutral backdrop so I painted the trays a glossy white.
While the paint was drying, I moved on to the decor. We came up with a sarcastic design to say goodbye to 2020. You can download our free "2020 is Finally Hindsight" word art to create your own little sign.
I wanted my sign to be chunky and stand up on the tray, but I didn't have any scraps of wood that would work, so I came up with a clever solution. I still had some old board books from when my girls were young, and they were just the right size. I wrapped the edges with white Duck Tape to hide the cardboard and create a solid look.
Then I printed the sign on paper and fed it through my Heidi Swapp Minc machine to add some gold foil.
Then I just cut it to size and taped it to the front of the book, creating an instant, trendy, little "wooden" sign.
For one more New Year's Eve touch, we created a quick midnight clock clipart image that looks great on the tray. I printed it to size, foiled it, and taped it to a white jar lid for a quick and easy clock shape.
