Modern Christmas Paint Dipped Ornaments
Welcome and happy holidays! We are going to have to try Christin's virtual ornament decorating contest with our family and friends. She had some great ideas for celebrating the holidays during this pandemic. Now, we want to share a fun little ornament decorating idea of our own!
I've always been a fan of the paint dipped trend, so when I was looking for a unique way to add a splash of color to a modern, white Christmas tree, I jumped on the chance to use this technique. It would be so simple to just dip white ornaments into shades of blue paint and create the perfect modern Christmas decor.
I gathered up a pile of smooth, white, plastic ornaments and several bottles of DecoArt's Glass Paint which I knew would stick well to the slick ornaments. I selected an array of pretty blue colors, and poured them into disposable plastic cups for easier dipping.
Then I hung an ornament from a skewer and dipped it slowly and carefully into the paint until it was halfway submerged. When I lifted it back out, I had a perfect line of color.
I used a craft stick to wipe away the excess paint as it dripped off the bottom, then stuck the skewers into a side of a chunk of foam and let the ornaments hang until dry. I kept an eye on them as the paint dripped, and wiped away any points that formed at the bottom of the ornament.
After they dried thoroughly, I hung them on my white tree. No other decorations were needed for these clean and modern Christmas look.

Love this look so much - I am doing a coastal tree this year, and these look like buoys!!
Elaine, what a fun idea! You made me realize we could dip them in red and they would look like bobbers, which would be perfect for a fishing-themed tree.
