Mini Football Garland Made from Wood Biscuits
When Jo and I built a custom banquette and table as part of a kitchen renovation, we used wood biscuits to join the boards together for the tabletop. While doing that, we were suddenly struck with how much the biscuits looked like little footballs, and decided to revisit the idea during football season.
Biscuits may vary from brand to brand, but our Ryobi #20 wood biscuits looked so much like footballs with the two stripes and textured surface. We knew right away we wanted to paint some to create mini garland for decoration at a tailgating party or for watching a game or the Super Bowl.
I started by painting everything except the stripes with a nice, leathery Cocoa Bean brown.
When that was dry, I painted the bands on either end with Cotton Ball white.
Finally, I used a thin liner brush to paint little stitches on the middle of each football.
Oh my goodness, look how cute these are!
To turn these mini footballs into a garland, I grabbed some green cording and my trusty hot glue gun.
I glued the footballs to the cording in a random arrangement, with the footballs in several different directions.
When the glue dried, I had the cutest little strings of footballs, ready to decorate my party space.
