Harry Potter Funko Pop Hogwarts Castle Display
Mini Me has a very large collection of Harry Potter Funko Pops. They are actually her favorite toys and she loves adding to her make-believe world. However, she didn't have a Hogwarts castle or any way to display her figures when she wasn't playing with them. I was shopping at Michaels and saw this wooden play castle in a whole new light. The scale was perfect for her Pop figures!
After painting the entire castle grey using multi-surface paint, I used a stencil I found at Michaels to add stonework to the outside.
There was an iron gate sticker available in the mixed media aisle. I painted it black.
Then, I fitted it to the front of the drawbridge and trimmed away the excess sticker.
I used the trim pieces to add more detail to the top of the drawbridge.
I created a clock tower using another piece that I found in the mixed media aisle.
I simply glued the clock piece to the exterior of the top of the castle. I kept it on the clear plastic sheet that it came on because otherwise the entire back would have been sticky.
Next, I made templates of the floors by cutting sheets of paper to the exact size.
Then I used some vinyl flooring samples from Home Depot that looked like stone and used my template to cut out pieces. I affixed them with a bit of hot glue.
Here's what it looks like in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. For the interior walls, I measured each room and then printed out pictures I found on the internet from the movies to create the different classrooms.
I used an X-acto knife to cut out the openings for the windows and doors before I fixed them permanently to the insides of the rooms. I simply traced the window or door onto the back of the paper and then cut them out.
I wanted to add some floating candles to the Great Hall. For this, I attached some yellow paper to the top of a strip of white. I rolled up the paper together and then added a dab of hot glue to hold it together. Then I just trimmed the flames to make them look more pointed.
Some fishing line was perfect for hanging a few candles from the ceiling of my Great Hall, which I furnished with a table and accessories I found in the dollhouse section of the craft store.
For a few of the rooms, I really didn't want to cut the window out because it looked better having the solid image of a closed window. This is only an issue when you are looking at your castle from the outside, where plain white window openings just won't do!
To fill these windows, I printed out some glowing window images and used a template to cut out the arch shapes. Once I added it with a little glue or double-sided tape, it really looked like the windows were glowing.
The fun part really was deciding which rooms to include and how to decorate them. I couldn't disappoint Hermione and not have the library!
The Potions room was one of the ones I decided shouldn't have a window. In the books, the Potions Room is in the dungeons, so it really should be dark and creepy.
The Pop figures fit perfectly into the rooms and look great on display. Snape looks right at home in his classroom.
I printed out a tiny Gryffindor banner to hang from the ceiling in the Gryffindor common room.
And Harry, of course, looks perfect in every room, even peeking through a castle window.
I glued a few owls onto the top of the castle for more decoration. Despite all my additions, this folding castle still closes up nicely for easy transport or storage.
The drawbridge opens directly into the Great Hall.
The rooms with stairs were the hardest to decorate because it was hard to reach around them, but I really like how Dumbledore's office came out.
The castle came with a small box to serve as an additional house. I added a cone-shaped roof and a picture of Fang sitting out front to make it a perfect hut for Hagrid.
MiniMe was thrilled with how perfectly her Funko Pop figures fit inside.
I have to admit, I had a ton of fun decorating this castle.
This castle house could easily be adapted to other Funko Pop themes as well. With some different decorations, it could easily display "Game of Thrones" or Disney princess Funko Pops.

This is amazing! You are a saint for sharing how you did this, I cannot wait to make my own. What an amazing way to display pops. Genius.
I can’t find the clock or the window images anywhere. Can you share where you found them? Thank you!
Kristen, the clock was a mixed media sticker made by 7Gypsies. It's from the Architextures line, available a Michaels. The windows were an image I found through Google, but I can't find it again now to share with you. Any glowing window image that you like should do the trick!
Hey I can’t figure out the sizes to print for the rooms do you think you could help with a google doc or something ?
Karla, I'm sorry but my daughter outgrew that castle and we passed it along. I don't have the measurements myself. I just measured the height and sized the image I found to that height and then I placed it and then cut it to width. I hope that helps!
absolutely great work,really!
