Our favorite thing about Halloween is costumes, so I'm excited that this year, Mini Me's Girl Scout Troop is having a costume contest at their Halloween party. I volunteered to get prizes for the winners, and I got big bags of candy. But to make the win extra special for the kids, I decided to make giant, wearable prize ribbons for the Cutest, Scariest, and Best Costume awards.

To make these wearable paper prize ribbons, you need to start with the printable Halloween prize ribbon templates available in our Etsy shop. After downloading the file, print the centers onto white cardstock and then cut them out.

Next, you need to work on the rosettes. The Halloween prize ribbons printables come with detailed instructions and several pattern sheets to choose from. Once you print the patterns you like, cut them into strips (per the instructions) and fold them accordion-style.

By the way, I used to always fold my rosette strips by eyeballing the width. It worked okay, but I had a hard time keeping the folds even. But recently I discovered a tool that helped immensely — a scoring board. I'm telling you, this thing has changed my crafting life! Now my folds are perfectly sized and straight every time.

Per the instructions, you'll attach the rosettes to the backs. I like to use hot glue so they stay put.

This is optional, but before attaching the centers to the front, I first added slightly larger circles with coordinating paper to give the ribbons a bit more dimension and character.

Add the streamers to the back with some tape or hot glue.

Making the ribbons wearable is super easy if you just hot glue a safety pin to the back. The prize winners will love getting to wear their ribbons!

Besides badges for Best, Cutest, and Scariest Costume, our Halloween prize ribbons printables include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place badges, as well as a customizable DOC version that you can edit to create your own custom category prizes!

Our Halloween prize ribbons even come with printable voting ballots (also customizable!) which work great if you want everyone at the party to vote for your contest winners.
