Guest Bath Toiletries and First Aid Kit
When we have guests in our home, we like them to feel as welcome as possible, whether they are visiting for a week or just an afternoon. We never want our guests to be uncomfortable or embarrassed because they forgot to bring a toiletry or need some first aid supplies. So when I did my spa-style guest bathroom makeover, I made a point to include a guest toiletries kit that was subtle, functional, and thoughtful.
I started with a couple of KUGGIS storage bins from IKEA because they were the perfect size and color for my bathroom.
Kit #1 - Essentials for short-term guests
I filled the container with personal toiletries that I thought a short-term guest might need, such as Band-Aids, antiseptic, contact lens solution, and tampons.
Then I designed some word art to put on the lid, letting people know what is inside in a subtle, pretty, and cute way with a "Have a boo-boo or forget something? Please help yourself" message. I used my Silhouette to cut the message out of white vinyl and applied it to the lid of the box. (You can download my "Help Yourself" .studio cut file to make your own!)
And with that, I had the perfect box of emergency toiletries for short-term guests that's pretty enough to leave out on the counter.
Kit #2 - Toiletries for overnight guests
Next, I wanted to create a kit for overnight guests who might have additional needs. For this toiletry kit, I reached for an IKEA SUNNERSTA because it was the right size and color for my bathroom. I filled it with overnight needs like a toothbrush, razor, mouthwash, make-up remover, and floss.
Then I went back to the Silhouette and created another bit of word art, this time saying "Oops! I forgot to bring my..." (Download my "Oops!" .studio cut file to make your own.) I cut it from white vinyl and added it to the front of the cup.
This overnight toiletries set for guests came in handy with our very first guests, who forgot a razor and was happy to find one there without having to ask for it.
Kit #3 - A pretty First Aid kit for guests
To round out the set, I created a more complete First Aid Kit for people who needed more than just a quick Band-Aid. I used another KUGGIS, this time in white.
I knew I wanted it to feature a cross, which is well-known as a sign for first aid, but I wanted it to be pretty, too. I went a little crazy and designed a cross image made up of lots of tiny words for first aid items. (Download my First Aid cross word art .studio file to make your own.) I cut it from mint green vinyl and ever-so-carefully weeded it.
When applied to the lid of the box, this pretty cross makes it perfectly clear what's inside!
I filled it with things like gauze, a cold pack, an elastic bandage, and plenty of antiseptic wipes. Guests aside — it's great to have such a pretty first aid kit ready and available!
With these clever and pretty kids, I know my guests will be comfortable and taken care of, and not embarrassed to ask for anything.
