Fourth of July Paper Fan Wreath
While shopping at Hobby Lobby, I was looking for a unique way to create inexpensive patriotic decorations for the Fourth of July. I was instantly inspired when I saw some paper fans covered with red, white, and blue stars and stripes. I grabbed a bunch of them and the whole way home, I thought about how I could repurpose them as fun 4th of July decor.
I decided to open them up and hot glue them together to create a fun and festive wreath. To help me keep my shape rounded, I placed a round MDF floral craft ring underneath to serve as a guideline, but I didn't glue anything to it.
I made one complete circle of fans, overlapping the paper portion a bit, and touching the ends of the handles together in the middle, to resemble a star shape.
To add more fullness and depth, I added another layer on top of that, centering each handle between two handles below it to keep everything symmetrical.
To finish it off, painted a wooden star white and glued it to the middle, then attached a string to the back for hanging it.
This wreath cost less than $8 to create and it makes a huge statement. It's a perfect single decoration for a front door, but I could also see the idea expanded for a larger space. Imagine dozens of them hanging as a backdrop behind a party table or as a photo booth station!
It is so lightweight, it makes it super easy to hang anywhere.
