Floral Nightstand Makeover with Wallpaper
My little niece recently got her first "big girl" bed and she needed some pretty new nightstands to go with it. I had picked up a pair of wooden nightstands a while ago at a yard sale, and I knew that with some fresh color and pattern, they would work perfectly in her new room.
After a thorough cleaning to make sure the paint would stick, I then used my HomeRight Finish Max sprayer to apply a coat of primer.
I wanted to decorate the top of the tables with a patterned wallpaper, and I found the perfect floral pattern with a lilac background at Spoonflower.
I had some paint color-matched to the lilac background color of the wallpaper, and used my HomeRight sprayer again to apply the finish top coat.
I used Multi-Surface paint in Soft Jade to highlight some delicate mint green to the carved details on the side of the nightstands as well as on the ends of the legs.
When the paint was dry, I measured the top of the table so I could cut my wallpaper exactly to size.
Then I cut the size I needed from my wallpaper.
Let me take a moment to talk about the quality of the peel-and-stick wallpaper from Spoonflower. They did not sponsor this post in any way but I have used a lot of peel-and-stick on projects before and this is, hands down, the best I have used. I couldn't believe how thick and sturdy it was! Unlike others I've used before, this didn't immediately fold and stick onto itself.
It was easy to peel and stick the wallpaper right to the top of the table, covering up that plain top with lovely flowers. The best part is that I could actually peel it up and reposition it without it stretching or tearing, which again is not something I'm used to with peel-and-stick wallpaper.
This pair of sweet lilac tables are now perfect nightstands for my niece's "big girl" bedroom. I especially like their open shelf, which is perfect for her to store some books or toys. I think she is going to love them and she will be able to use these for quite a while.
They even look cute turned sideways, thanks to that mint green detail I added with paint. Little touches make all the difference in a good furniture makeover!
