Flea Market Find Mid-Century Modern Chair Makeover
I am embarrassed to say that Chica made some new cushions for the chair frame I picked up at a flea market like... oh... maybe a year ago? Yep, it has taken me a long time to finish this project, but I finally dug it out of my storage area to give it a new life.
It didn't even take that much work because the chair was in great shape except for a little dirt and one rough spot. Shame on me for delaying so long!
I knew I would paint the chair, but I wanted to keep the caning original that was on the sides alone, so that it would stand out more from the design of the chair. To protect it from the paint, I covered all of the cane in some FrogTape.
To get perfectly straight edges, I trimmed the excess tape away using a sharp craft knife and a metal ruler.
I wanted to pull the blue color out of the cushion fabric, so I chose Rust-Oleum Nantucket Blue spray paint and got to work.
After applying a couple coats of paint and removing all the tape, my chair was completely updated and looks right at home near my bar cart.
This whole project took me less than an hour to complete so I am not sure why I procrastinated for so long, but I'm so happy it's finally done.
