Easy DIY Cobweb Placemats for Halloween
Need a simple Halloween decoration for your tablescape? These hot glue spider cobweb placemats are easy to make and inexpensive — our favorite combo!
To make these spider web placemats, first download and print our free cobweb pattern sheet. It's designed to be a standard charger size.
After you print the pages, trim the excess off the edges. Tip: leave some white on some of the edges so that the pages can overlap, which will make them easier to tape together.
Fit the four pieces together and tape them along each edge.
With your pattern ready, reach for some parchment paper and tear off a sheet big enough to cover the pattern. Tape it lightly to your work surface to prevent it from shifting around.
To create the cobweb, use your hot glue gun to outline the pattern onto the parchment paper. Don't worry about straight lines, and don't try to make your glue the full width of the pattern — it's just a guide.
When you're done, remove the parchment paper and set it aside to fully cool, and start with a fresh sheet to make your next placemat.
To give your spider web placemat a finished look, you can spray paint it any color you like. I chose gold spray paint to match my decor.
When the paint is dry, peel the piece off the parchment and you're ready to use it on your dining table. I love how my gold cobwebs work on my table with the black tablecloth.
