Duct Tape Vases from Upcycled Crystal Light Containers
The kids and I wanted to come up with an inexpensive way to brighten some people's days during quarantine and were looking for an easy gift idea. Since they love doing Duck Tape crafts and the folks at Duck had just sent us some fun patterns to play with, we came up with the idea of upcycling empty Crystal Light containers into flower vases. These plastic tube-shaped tubs are so fun to re-purpose!
We really liked the bright colors in the chevron pattern Duck Tape so we started by covering the whole container with it, trying to line up the pattern as best we could.
The tape wasn't quite wide enough to evenly cover the whole thing, so we took it as a design opportunity and used the solid blue tape, cut in half, to hide the last bit of container.
To continue the blue accent, we put a full piece of tape around the top to finish it off.
The girls and I each created a flower vace, using the chevron tape on all three, but then using a different solid color tape on each one. We also varied our design a little on each one, which made for a fun coordinated set. These upcycled drink containers were so fun and easy, and once filled with some flowers, they make a very inexpensive gift to give. The containers could also be used to hold pencils, or you can put the lids back on and give someone a container full of candies!
