Dollar Tree Bath Mat DIY Vase
I was in Dollar Tree recently and spotted these amazing clear PVC bath mats with a really unique bubble design. They were so cool and such a bargain that I grabbed one right away. By the time I got home, I had come up with an idea to use it to add modern texture to a clear vase. What a quick and easy way to DIY this bath mat into something new.
I started by laying a straight-sided glass vase onto the bath mat and cutting the mat to match the height of the vase.
Then I rolled the mat around the vase, marked where it overlapped, and trimmed the mat down to size so that it fit around the vase perfectly.
I actually quite liked the clear bubble look, but I thought I would take it a step further by adding a little color to them. I used nail polish to paint the backs of the large bubbles with alternating white and black. Why nail polish? As we learned when we wrote our book about crafting with nail polish, it sticks to everything and stays flexible, which is exactly what I needed for this project.
When the polish had dried, I wrapped the mat around the vase again and secured it with a few dabs of hot glue.
And just like that, I had a beautiful, glamorous vase with modern texture that looks so expensive but wasn't. This Dollar Tree bath mat hack could work on any straight-sided container, and can easily be customized to suit your decor.
