Dip-dyed Custom Boho Garland

While shopping the seasonal section at Hobby Lobby, I found a simple, white, tassel garland and thought it would be fun to try and dip-dye the tassels. (If they are sold out at your local Hobby Lobby, you can find similar yarn tassel garlands online.)
To create a boho look, I wanted to use a pink, teal, and mustard yellow color palette. I found Rit Dye in pink and teal, and followed a formula I found online to make the mustard yellow color.
After dipping each tassel, I put it into an individual plastic bag to prevent them from touching each other, which might transfer the dye color where I didn't want it.
When they were all dipped, I hung clipped the garland to my clothesline outside.
After everything was securely clipped the there was no more danger of them touching, I removed the plastic bags and left the tassels to dry.
The colors lightened and mellowed out once they were dry, and I got exactly the fun, boho look I was after. I just love it!
I also like how the color continued to seep up the tassel, sometimes dying the string as well, which gave it a really natural and handmade look. This dip-dye technique was so simple and would work great for creating custom tassel garlands to match your holiday decor or party theme.
