Christmas Snowman Game for the Kids' Table
At Thanksgiving, the kids (and adults) love playing my homemade version of the Left, Center, Right (LCR) game with colorful acorns and mini bowls. I decided that since my Thanksgiving version was so popular, I needed to make another version for Christmas.
I got some 1.5" tall mini wooden snowmen and a set of our 2.5" mini wooden bowls and turned them into a LCR game perfect for the winter holidays! As a bonus, it also makes a great sorting and counting game for the younger kids.
To go with the snowman feel, I painted the snowmen and the outside of each bowl with white multi-surface paint. I then chose a few festive colors and painted the insides of each bowl with a different color.
Next, I painted the hats on three snowmen with each of the colors, to create matching sets.
This game requires three dice, which I made using small wooden blocks painted with the same colors. Then I used a gold paint pen to mark three of the sides with the letters L, C, and R. For the remaining three sides, I added just a dot.
This is such a fun game for the table, because it doesn't take up much room and keeps the kids occupied. The rules are pretty simple, too!
HOW TO PLAY:
- Give three snowmen and one bowl to each player.
- Roll as many dice as you have snowmen, up to three.
- For each L or R rolled, give one snowman to the player to your left or right. For each C rolled, put a snowman in the center. Rolling a dot means you keep your snowman.
- Pass the dice to your left for the next player’s turn. You are not out if you end up without snowmen at the end of your turn, because the other players might end up passing you their snowmen during their roll.
- The winner is the last player with any snowmen left.
