Christmas Eggnog Refrigerator
We love eggnog at Christmas, and every year, I make Alton Brown's Aged Eggnog Recipe. It's a unique aged recipe that I start in July and let mellow in my refrigerator until December party time rolls around.
The recent TikTok trend of decorating the inside of your refrigerator inspired me to create a special place to store and serve my eggnog during the holiday season.
I had an unused dorm refrigerator in my barn that looked a little rough, so I decided to turn it into fun and cheery Christmas decor. It will house my special eggnog and other seasonal drinks, and it will be center stage come Christmas party time.
Painting the fridge a fresh new color
This old mini fridge was covered in graffiti and dirt, so I gave it a good power washing to clean it thoroughly.
Then I reached for a can of ColorShot in the Stiletto color to paint the whole outside.
Removing the door made it easier to paint. (Make sure you mask off the inside if you don't want it to be red as well.)
Decorating the fridge with vinyl cutouts
To decorate my newly red fridge, I wanted to add some vinyl cutouts. My daughter designed some fun word art for me featuring the phrase "Full of Holiday Spirit" and lots of snowflakes, and I used my Cricut to cut them out of white vinyl.
I carefully weeded the parts I don't want from the design.
I cut all the pieces apart so that I could position them exactly where I wanted, and then used transfer paper to apply them. The transfer paper was essential here because the designs were so large and delicate.
I absolutely love how some paint and vinyl completely transformed the outside of this refrigerator. Also, I can just remove the vinyl after Christmas if I want to use the red refrigerator year-round.

Filling the Christmas fridge with drinks
With the outside done, it was time to decorate the inside. Let's take a peek! I purchased small, individual drinking glasses to fill with my eggnog. I also got larger bottles to fill up for parties.
I hung some battery-powered lights inside to add a touch of whimsy. In the door, I put a miniature grater and some whole nutmeg for adding to your eggnog before serving. Add in a few sweet treats and decorative snowflake pieces and the result was fun, yet still functional.
There's more than just drinks inside, though. I included some sweet treats like cookies and cake pops, and I will make sure and replenish them as the holiday season goes along.
Other options than eggnog
You don't have to limit this refrigerator to eggnog. The "Filled with Holiday Spirit" phrase can be a hint at all sorts of holiday beverages that may be stored inside. I plan to also stock mine with chilled wines, sodas, and mixers. It will be a one-stop shop for my guests to get their drink on!
