Chica and I went to a yard sale over the summer and I picked up little glass-front cabinet. I didn't know what I was going to do with it but I thought it was super cute. Fast forward a couple of months to when Chica created her Halloween curiosities cabinet and inspiration struck; I was going to turn mine into a Christmas curiosities cabinet!

First up, a fresh coat of Chalky Finish paint on the inside. The white background will make all the little items I am going to put inside really pop.

Before painting the outside, I taped off all the glass on the doors.

Once it was all taped off, I used a can of bright red Rust-Oleum spray paint to give it the perfect Christmas look.

The really fun part came next... gathering items to put in the cabinet! I hit up the dollhouse section of the craft store first for some wooden miniatures.

A cozy fireplace mantel certainly says Christmas! I painted it red and white to match my theme.

The fireplace looked perfect all decked out for the holidays, complete with tiny cards I printed to hang from the mantle. I even created a faux fire by printing a fire scene on some vellum and adding a battery operated light behind it. The clock, cookies, etc. were all dollhouse finds.

I painted the window with Christmas green, and used the plastic packaging it came in to create faux glass for it. I just cut the plastic to fit and hot glued it onto the back.

To finish the window, I printed a snowy scene and glued it to the back of the plastic glass.

I tucked the window in the back of the case, behind a little red sled that started life as a tree ornament. I spelled out "NOEL" with some Scrabble tiles and glued them to the top.

A simple little wooden snowman looks perfect with a quick paint job!

It's amazing the tiny items you can find if you look around! The mini Santa outfit came from the scrapbooking section of the craft store. I already had the 2 and 5 dominoes, and used those to show the date of the big day. A small cloche was easily filled with jingle bells and I added some glitter paint to a "December" cutout I had in my stash.

Tiny brush trees and a sweet fuzzy deer made a cute vignette in the corner.

The mailbox was another ornament that worked perfectly in this scale.

One of my favorite things is this tiny box of ornaments! This was another find from the dollhouse furniture section at the craft store.

I really love how it all came together and how all the different pieces make it interesting. Kids and adults alike spend forever staring at all the tiny items.

Next year, I can swap out with different things I might find at flea markets or the craft store. I like having a place to curate all these tiny, whimsical finds.
