Chalk Painted Sofa Table Redo
Years ago, when I first learned what a sofa table was, I bought this one from Target. It has held up nicely for an inexpensive piece of furniture, but I felt it was time to give it a new look. There wasn't much contrast between it and the back of the leather sofa and it was getting pretty beaten up.
My go-to paint for old, not-so-great furniture? Chalk paint, of course. I started with a coat of a nice blue called Colonial.
It took two coats to give it nice coverage, and the new color was so refreshing.
To seal the paint, I applied a coat of Light-Satin Varnish from the same product line.
As much as I loved the new color, I felt it still needed a little something else to give it some personality. So I used Americana Decor Metallics in Copper to paint the bottom 8" or so of the legs.
Then, to add some interest to the table top and repeat that metallic finish, I taped off two triangles to meet in the middle and filled them in with the same copper metallic paint.
I didn't set out to match the blue and copper colors with my Russian nesting dolls but I was delighted to see that it turned out that way!
As a final touch, I replaced the boring knobs with new, decorative ones from Hobby Lobby. I love the selection they have and they often have great sales on them.
I think this refinished sofa table looks so much better against the dark background of the couch, and I love the new pop of color in the living room!

Hello! WOW, I am so happy to have found your site. You two are so creative. I’m wondering if you plan to do another Kentucky Derby spreadsheet for 2018....could I be so lucky?
Thanks!,
Melissa
Melissa, we'll update the spreadsheet as soon as the field is set!
