"Birthday Monsters!" Invitation

Mini Me is about to turn 2 next month. She loves reading, and in particular, she loves for us to repeat the works of Sandra Boynton over and over again. So what better birthday theme to do than Birthday Monsters! by Sandra Boynton?
Unfortunately, you can't go and buy any pre-packaged birthday stuff for this party theme, which makes it a bit harder. Never fear, though! I have some ideas to share that will make throwing a Birthday Monsters! party easy.
First off, the invitation. I bought multiple copies of the book so that I could give them as favors to the little kids coming to the party. I decided to also use Boynton's fabulous artwork to design the invitation. I wanted it to look just like the real book but with party information instead of the title, etc.
To make it easy on you to recreate my invitations, just download the Word template and replace the placeholder text with your party information. There are three boxes -- two on the front and one on the inside. If you don't want to use one of the front ones, just delete the placeholder text.
Make sure your printer is set to "duplex" before printing. If your printer does not do duplex printing, you will need to print on one side and then turn the paper over and feed it back through to print the other side. I printed mine onto white card stock.
Once printed, fold the program to line up the edges of the card and then make three cuts to trim to size.
Next, take your craft knife and cut the white hole out of the middle. Make sure you open the invitation before doing this or you will end up cutting your cute monsters as well! This would not be good! Trust me. I have experience on my side.
I love how they turned out! What a festive invitation to use and, I might add, one of our favorite books to read in our house.

The invitations look great! How did you get the illustration into Word? I'm wondering if I can do it with other illustrations from another book, like Pajama Time.
Chloe, I scanned the image in and then cropped the rough edges. I then did an insert picture in Word. Pajama Time would be so cute!
I LOVE this! My son is turning one in September and I wanted to do a Birthday Monster themed party. This is the only thing I have found online so far. Do you have any other ideas you wouldn't mind sharing?

This is such a great idea. I'm doing this for my daughter's first birthday. How did you distribute the invitations? I'm going to be mailing them, and I was curious what size envelopes you used.
