Bathroom Makeover on a Budget
My half bath was as boring as it could be, with a builder-grade vanity and boring tan walls. I wanted to give it some personality, but with a tight budget, I needed options that would add a lot of color and whimsy without breaking the bank.
Jo and I did some brainstorming and we managed to complete transform the space into a garden-inspired powder room in just 1 day for under $250.
BEFORE: Boring tan bathroom
Just look how boring this half bath was before. Not my style, with no color at all. The mirror and vanity were chosen by the previous owners, and I've been looking for an excuse to change it for years.
VIDEO: The bathroom makeover
We went with a whimsical, garden-inspired theme, mostly based on this fun peel-and-stick wallpaper that I found. Look how quickly it all came together, and for such a huge impact!
AFTER: Fun and colorful bathroom on a budget
Just look at this amazing new bathroom! The biggest impact came, of course, from paint. It's such an easy and affordable way to transform a room. I painted the walls in a gorgeous green, which just so happens to be Stainmaster's 2024 Paint Color of the Year: HGTV Home's English Green.
I wanted to add a bold pattern to the room, and our budget-friendly solution was to just place a horizontal band of the wallpaper around the room. This multicolor botanical print by NuWallpaper was the perfect pattern for this garden-inspired look.
I hung a gorgeous new black framed oval mirror from Origin 21 over the wallpaper, above the sink, and it was perfect.
I added more black accents by way of a new matte black bathroom faucet by Project Source. Oh, such a sexy and elegant finish this matte black is!
The final touch was to paint the vanity in a pretty pink color that I pulled from the wallpaper design, Sherwin Williams' Rosetti Pink.
I simply adore the new look of this bathroom, with its easy-going colors and pop of whimsy. And we did it all in one day, and for under $250. Who says you can't have gorgeous on a budget?
