Thanksgiving Place Card Holders from Resin
When we attended the Haven conference this past summer, I took a resin class sponsored by TotalBoat. I had such a great time making my coaster with Jess from Crow Creek Designs, that I knew I wanted to try another project. I came up with a fun idea for making resin place card holders to decorate my fall dinner table.
I mixed my TotalBoat resin according to the directions on the bottles and then added some pigment powders to give the shapes some color. I poured the resin evenly into a silicone mold that had shapes of pumpkins and leaves.
After letting the resin cure, I set each piece on its side and used my Walnut Hollow wood burner tool with the blade attachment to cut a slit to hold the place card. The heated blade worked perfectly for cutting a clean line.
Then I just inserted a cute name card into each one and I had adorable, fall-themed, custom place card holders that matched my Thanksgiving table decor perfectly.
I especially like how there is a swirl design through the resin from the pigment coloring, which I only halfway stirred in. It gives a great marble effect and makes each piece unique.
